The theme for the 2008 WriteOn! Playwriting Contest is Snap! The WRITE ON! Annual Teen Playwriting Contest

Every year, we a number of student playwrights to develop a new ten-minute play at Hartford Stage. Winners work with a professional playwright to polish their scripts and see real actors perform their play as part of Hartford Stage’s annual Brand New Fall Festival of New Work.

It starts with an idea…

To enter the Write On! contest, all you need is an idea. If your idea is chosen, we’ll help with the rest. This year's theme is SNAP.

Give us your idea for a 10-minute play. Include characters, setting, and as much of the story as you can — beginning, middle, and end. You can fill out the entry form online or download it and mail it in.

You may enter as many times as you wish, but please, only one idea per entry form. Entries may be in English or Spanish.

Deadline for entry is July 1, 2008

Ready to enter? Fill out our online entry form, or download a paper form and send it in!

Teachers: Inspire literacy. Encourage your students to enter.

You can invite students to enter on their own, as part of a classroom exercise you lead, or ask Hartford Stage to assist. Call the Education Hotline at 860-520-7206 to organize a Write On! playwriting workshop in your classroom.
