The Education Department has been busy the past couple of weeks with our Summer Studio classes for youth!
During the Musical Theatre: Revue week, 16 teens had a chance to practice being triple-threats while focusing on acting techniques with Resident Teaching Artist Hunter Parker, singing with Kevin Scott, and master choreography classes with former Broadway dancers and local professionals Mary Cadorette, Jolet Creary, and Carolyn Kirsch. You can find out more about these impressive guest artists here. At the end of the week, students put it all together by showcasing different vocal and dance techniques for friends and family in true musical theatre revue fashion.
During the Musical Theatre: Performance Project week, 26 young actors, singers, and dancers (ages 7-13) performed a short original musical that was a modernized version of Cinderella. The students had a blast, and many of them remarked that their favorite parts were making new friends, playing games together, and putting on a production!
Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of our 2012 Summer Studio! We hope to see your smiling faces throughout the year and next summer—in the meantime, head to our photo gallery to check out some fun pictures.
