Breakdancing Master Class
Saturday, May 6, 2017

Instructor: Brandon Couloute
Come work with the talented Brandon Couloute – the choreographer from Hartford Stage’s popular Breakdancing Shakespeare program - in this exciting master class! Learn some basic breakdancing and hip hop steps to help prepare for your upcoming audition for this summer’s Breakdancing Shakespeare production of As You Like It, or simply have fun trying something new! All experience levels welcome.
Musical Theatre Cabaret Troupe

Troupe members will prepare several musical theatre numbers to be performed at the annual Celebrate West Hartford on Saturday, June 10.
Mini-Musical: Aesop’s Fables Deluxe
May 10 – June 7, 2017
Wednesdays: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
Students will create a mini-production exploring several of Aesop’s most-loved fables. Through song and dance, students will work with a short script to develop characters, perform a story, and learn about the rehearsal process. The class will end with a brief performance of the show after the last class.
Audition Technique Master Class
Saturday, June 3, 2017
10:00am – 12:00pm
Instructors: Emely Larson and Erin Rose
Students will gain valuable techniques and essential skills for preparing for an audition, including monologues, cold readings and musical theatre requirements. Students will get pointers on how to make the most of their audition time, practice text analysis tricks that will help them make good, clear acting choices, and learn quick dance combination basics that will give them confidence to tackle a musical theatre audition. The course will end with a mock audition and feedback for each individual student.
Creative Drama Workshop: Around the World in One Day!

10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Students will explore traditional folk and fairy tales from across the world and discover how they can change from culture to culture. Songs, crafts and stories will take the students on a fun adventure around the world!
Summer Studio Classes
Summer Studio Teen Musical
July 10-August 11 (with additional performances on August 12)
Teens will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a full production of Pippin, which will be performed in the Hartford Stage theatre in downtown Hartford. Teens will participate in acting classes, electives and workshops with guest artists. Students involved will also work as mentors for younger students as a leadership building component of the program.
Summer Studio Youth Ensemble
July 10-August 4 (with additional performances on August 5)
Students are cast in either a musical or non-musical production. Students spend mornings rehearsing and afternoons exploring elective classes of their choice. Once a week, the Youth Ensemble enjoys a field trip together. This year’s shows are Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. and The Canterville Ghost, a Radio Play.
Summer Studio Children’s Cast
Ages 5-8 * Please note: to be eligible for the Children’s Cast, students must have completed Kindergarten
Session 1: July 10 – 21
Session 2: July 24 – August 4
$565 per session ($1025 if student registers for both)
Students will take classes in story theatre, creative movement, music, puppetry, and arts and crafts, and go on a weekly field trip. Each session ends in a mini-production that the cast creates based on favorite stories and characters.
Young actors will hone their skills with training in the basics of acting and improvisation, working toward a production.
Session 1: August 7-11
Session 2: August 14-18
$310 per session/ $565 for both sessions
Close out the summer with drama and fun! Students will explore literature from summer reading lists through acting, musical theatre, creative movement and arts and crafts.

$180 per session, $310 for 2 sessions, $405 for all 3 sessions
Our youngest artists will enjoy a half-day of creative movement, music, story theatre, and puppet play!
