What should I wear?
There’s no dress code at Hartford Stage, so wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Some guests dress up for a special night out, while others keep it casual—there’s no right way to enjoy the theater. Whether you’re seeing your first play or your fiftieth, the most important thing is to feel comfortable, settle in, and enjoy the performance.
When should I arrive?
Curtain times are always 7:30 PM for evening shows and 2:00 PM for matinees.
We recommend arriving 30 minutes before curtain so you have time to park, pick up your tickets if needed, use the restroom, and settle into your seat. Performances begin promptly at the advertised curtain time, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive and get comfortable.

When you arrive at Hartford Stage, our staff will check you in at the box office. Enjoy our lobby to grab a drink or visit the restroom, then make your way to the theater, before the performance begins. Our ushers are here to help you find your seat.

Performance lengths vary by production. Visit the individual show page for the most up-to-date information about running time, intermission, and performance details.
During the performance, please silence your phone and put it away so you can fully enjoy the show and so your fellow audience members can too.
We encourage photos and social sharing before and after the performance, but recording or photographing the performance itself isn’t appropriate.
Absolutely. Theater is meant to be experienced, discussed, and shared. Hartford Stage may offer post-show Talk Backs with actors, directors, artists, and special guests, giving audiences an opportunity to continue the conversation after the curtain falls.
