HARTFORD

R.J. Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts

A Hartford Stage Teaching Artist works with pre-K through 4th grade students at Kinsella four days a week during morning enrichment period. The teaching artist works with classroom teachers and the drama teacher to enhance the curriculum with drama activities. Three times a year, Kinsella students in 7th and 8th grade come to Hartford Stage to see a Main Stage show. In past years, a Teaching Artist has directed a mini version of our Young Company’s Breakdancing Shakespeare show with 5th through 8th graders during Kinsella’s afternoon Extended Day program.

HARTFORD

Classical Magnet School

Every fall a Hartford Stage teaching artist directs a full dramatic production with high school students at Classical. They rehearse four days a week during the afternoon enrichment period. Three times a year, Classical eighth graders come to Hartford Stage to see a Main stage show. Classical 6th, 7th, and 9th graders also have the Connections program in their classroom.

INTERDISTRICT PARTNERSHIPS

Words Alive in the Middle

100 students gather seven times throughout the school year at Hartford Stage to take classes in a variety of arts disciplines from music to acting. This process of artistic and community growth culminates in a final presentation where students showcase their work, uniting all the elements of performing and visual arts they have created together during the year.
